Installation
Installing new digitalSTROM devices for the first time is very easy: plug-in and that's it (plug & play). The devices are equipped with basic functions and recognized by the system at once. If a device needs to be adapted to fit personal needs and transported into an adjacent room, all programme codes remain unchanged.
For electricians installing digitalSTROM is equally simple: Mounting the digitalSTROM Meter (sensor) into the fuse box and installing a new terminal block underneath the existing light switch. There is no need to alter the existing cabling. Thus digitalSTROM is the perfect solution for setting-up a building automation system into existing houses. And furthermore digitalSTROM is predestined for renovating and modernizing homes and houses.

The digitalSTROM colour scheme also helps to simplify installation: For installing a digitalSTROM lamp, a terminal block for lights (yellow) needs to be linked to a terminal block in the same electric circuit. Preprogrammed devices make sure that basic functions are available at once (plug & play). Thus installation time is drastically reduced.
If you want to get your building digitalSTROM-ready, there are only few requirements:
- Install push buttons instead of switches (push buttons are not necessarily required but make life easier with digitalSTROM - tipp for experts: our push buttons require L and N).
- Lay one electric circuit for each large room and fuse it (corridor and bathroom could be combined for instance).
- Install a larger fuse box (each electric circuit requires a so-called digitalSTROM Meter with 17.5 mm additional space required on the top hat rail).
- Set up an ethernet connection for your fuse box.
